Landscape update

A few weeks ago Christian asked if he could have a professional photographer come to the house to get some shots for his portfolio and website.  He just sent some of the results  - great job!

Still Green

What a difference a little rain makes - Keith and Karen have an amazing view from their patio
Well at least most of the time
They have been in the rain clouds for 10 days now.

Of course those of us in Toronto know how they feel - today it was so rainy they issued heavy rainfall warnings - forecast 15mm - - - in case you were wondering, Quepos (an hour north of Ojochal) recorded 5 inches of rain on Tuesday!  and is has been like that for days now.  They call it a rain forest for a reason I guess.

The Green Season

Heavy rain warnings, impassable rivers, grey wet days.

Lush greenery, growth, renewal.

Some great photos of the benefits of the rain

Mundane Matters

It is amazing the difference in the mundane depending on where you sit.

In Costa Rica a grasshopper sitting on the table is fascinating and beautiful and gets talked about (or at least blogged about).  In Toronto, the raccoon in the backyard is a menace you spray with the garden hose and prefer not to speak about.

The complications of work, the demands of family and the lack of time created by all this really does change your perspective.

When you have less demanding your attention, a grasshopper is worth contemplating!

Stay-cation

While we are actively planning our return to Ojochal in December - alas only for a month - a milestone crept up on us - our 25th anniversary.

We have both been incredibly busy with work and family, and while we had originally contemplated a vacation south to celebrate, it was clear that would be very difficult to bring to reality.  So, with the date suddenly upon us, we checked into a boutique hotel downtown on Friday evening, refused to connect to work, and checked out on Monday morning.

A wonderful weekend - great dinners, brunch on a patio (yes it was gloriously warm and sunny), shopping on Queen West, Bloor St and in the Distillery District, and Sunday afternoon at Cirque du Soleil.

Champagne on the beach would have been better, but this was an amazing second place!

What a Difference a Day Makes

Well - OK - 2 months, but it is still shocking.

I offer the same photo June 27, July 30 and September 1.

And Lisle was worried about the little plants!

Unfortunately the palms and other tropicals don't grow quite as fast, but there is still a noticeable difference
