Bird's Eye View

When Lisle was in Ojochal in May, he decided to take an Ultra-Light flight.  They take off from a strip just south of Uvita and go wherever you want them to. He asked them to fly over the house.

Beside spectacular views of the coastline and beaches, this is our house from above.

And the whole neighborhood

Golden Gate Bridge

Well the things at either end are painted yellow!

Yes, We have a bridge!!!

Gone is the rustic charm of driving through the river - no more can I see the shocked look on people's faces when I say, "you go off to the right and down through the river".

I must say it was part of normal life in Costa Rica - the challenges, the lack of infrastructure, the making due - - we have only experienced it for short periods, not like our friends who have been here full time for almost 5 years!  A whole lot has changed - things that make life easier - more like North America - good in one respect, but sad in another.

Well, no more worrying about being able to get home when the sky suddenly goes dark and the rain comes down in buckets!

It is a nice bridge.

And there can be no doubt who paid for it!

Some photos of construction.

Strange Things

Some things are just too freaky - makes you wonder if the end really is near!

Costa Rica gets rain - lots of it - - where our house is we get about 20 feet of rain a year (compared to Toronto which gets less than 3 feet of precipitation).  And storms can be harsh, torrential.

But this week there were two tornadoes outside San Jose - one on Tuesday and one on Thursday - unheard of!

Then, our friends sent these photos - two snakes seeking a nest of birds just above the house - CREEPY.

Change Creeps Forward

There are signs of progress - something that may one day be a bridge - trees have been cleared and there are steel beams gathering on the ground.

I know the river looks more like a creek, but when it rains and the water is going over the log in the photo, you dream of a bridge!

Did You Know ...

We have learned to expect the unexpected - and that the unexpected is always the most interesting.

Did you know that ...

The snake plant - mother-in-law's tongue - flowered??

Moths are the size of luncheon plates?

Lizards like to sit on the sofa too?

Bananas and pineapple can grow in your backyard?

Ginger is beautiful as well as tasty?
Showering outside is the ultimate freedom?

Someone left these strange spheres all over the Osa Peninsula?

Wet dogs can fly (almost)?

Frogs are sneaky - but not very smart?

Every day ends perfectly with a sunset and a glass of wine?
and finally - my husband thinks I'm a little crazy?!

The Real Reason to Live in Costa Rica!

YUK!  A foot of snow - windy and cold!
